How to claim the FTA rate

  1. Confirm the HS code of your product and check it is covered by the ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) tariff schedule.
  2. Check the rules of origin. Your product must be wholly obtained in India or meet the rule above. Keep a costing sheet showing the value addition.
  3. Register on the DGFT e-CoO portal with your IEC and digital signature, if you haven't already.
  4. Apply for the Certificate of Origin for each shipment, attaching the invoice, packing list and shipping bill details. The issuing agency checks it and issues the certificate.
  5. Send the certificate to your buyer with the shipping documents. The buyer quotes it in their import declaration to pay the FTA rate.
  6. Keep your records (costing, purchase bills, certificate) for verification requests, usually for 3–5 years.
